I needed glasses again in July 2018 because I re-developed myopia (near-sightedness). When I had my surgery, Dr. Manche and his technicians warned me that I might need glasses again if I had children. My son was a year old. I’m considering getting the surgery again, but I don’t want to go to the hospital for any reason right now. Dr. Manche’s office said that repeated the surgery costs half price.
These YouTube videos, produced by Adafruit Industries, help explain some of the nuts and bolts of electronics, a precursor to building robots. I like the puppet-and-person approach to teaching and think it makes it easier to pay attention, even though I’m not the target audience.

Robots are cool because, once they are programmed, they work autonomously. I want to learn how to make them. I know how to program computers, so I should be able to program a robot. So, I’ve started learning how to hook up the circuitry.
The sections “Stuff”, “Post”, and “Videos” are for different things I’ve made. “Stuff” is programs I’ve written. You can read more about them by clicking on “Stuff” or use them by clicking on the titles. “Posts” is articles I’ve written about different, sometimes geeky, things I’m interested in. “Tools” is a list of recommended tools I’ve used to write my blog. “Videos” is a slew of youtube videos I’ve recorded and uploaded. “Flirting in Hexadecimal” and “Cursing in Binary” are by far my favorites. They get less geeky as you go down the list. “Friends” are people I know who also have blogs I’d recommend perusing.
Art class teaches about geometric versus organic shapes. A building has straight lines and right angles, so it’s geometric. A plant and curved lines and as many circles as angles, so it’s organic. Many artists draw and paint beautiful images and fruit, flowers, landscapes, and other organic beauty. When I was in art class, given the choice, I picked geometric. I loved drawing the crisp lines, and I loved bending the angles to show perspective. When I was doodling in class, and wanted to draw what I saw, the first thing I’d see was an electric outlet.
